The summer holidays are over and tomorrow it's back to school again! We returned from the south of France last Friday after 2 weeks of sun and swimming pools. It should have been bliss (and for the kids it was), but there was one but: Patrick was ill from day 2. He had this terrible cough and it just didn't stop, sometimes he would even keel over.... very frightening. Of course we went to see a French general practitioner but his English was very bad and he wasn't of much help. We even phoned our own family doctor in Delft, but of course he couldn't do much either and told us to just carry on with our vacation. So we did.

The first night we stayed in the Hilton hotel in Luxembourg where we had 2 big rooms for the 5 of us, then we went to the Ardèche for one week where we had a little cottage and then on to the camping in Cardet in the Languedoc where my sister Michèle and her family and also my friend Yvonne and her family were staying too. Here we had a mobile home. Patrick didn't feel any better, but I did. It's disquieting to be in a foreign country with 3 kids, a dog and sick husband and not knowing the emergency numbers, doctors, hospitals, the address where you are staying..... etc.

In the end we did have a relatively good time and we are looking forward to our next stay there!!

Here are some photos:

Such a beautiful garden!

The rain from the last few days had one advantage: the wilted flowers in the garden were so beautiful again!
Apart from that I can't think of another advantage! Everyone is bad tempered, the kids can't play outside and Jippie is afraid of the thunder and hides under the table. So lets hope the sun returns real soon!

Today we woke very early because we were going to the "Efteling"!! After an hour's drive we arrived just as the park opened (together with hundreds of others) and we stayed until 6 pm. We hardly ate anything at all because we didn't want to miss any of the attractions.

We started at the Dream Flight, Mats' favorite and while Mats and I went in again for another round Patrick went to Villa Volta and the Bird Rock with Tim and Manon.

Another favorite of Mats: the Carrousel!

This year it was a bit difficult to choose where to go: Manon and Tim wanted to go to The Flying Dutchman and the Pirana, but Mats is too small for those attractions. Therefore we decided to split up for a while, Patrick took Tim and Manon to the attractions of their choice and I took Mats to the playground, the Fairy Tale Forest and the Laaf people. The Carnival Festival and the Fata Morgana we did together again.

The all time favorite: Holle Bolle Gijs!

When we left we were all worn out (but the kids were not too tired to fight in the car....of course)!

Scrapped a new one!

This morning I sat down and quickly scrapped a page for Colormedaisy's weekly challenge: use tone on tone colors (blues) with a splash of one color of choice, use 2 different sized photos, the lo must have at least 2 photos and the layout also needs to include some journaling and at least one stamp (not a journaling block). I had these photos of Jippie from last winter, which I wanted to scrap for ages and now finally the perfect opportunity arose!

The rest of the day went by very quickly and we didn't do very much I'm afraid. The kids were extremely bored and couldn't find anything to do except of course playing on the PS2, the NDS, the computer or watching tv..... (how sad is that?). Sometimes when I think back to the time I was about 10, we didn't have computers or PSs... I feel so terribly OLD!! Is it the same with your kids? or are mine the only ones???? (please say it isn't so!)

Saturday 9 August 2008

Yeah, I'm using my new laptop!!

Not all my programmes are installed yet (like my MS office, Picasa, Incredimail, etc.) but I'm connected to the internet and that's what counts, right?

My laptop is such a beauty!! (Except for the white keyboard that is, I wanted a black one...my dh had to laugh so hard, he almost toppled over.)

Here are some the specifications:
ACER Aspire 7720G-6A3G25Mi
- Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 (2.0Ghz/2M) Mobile Processor
- LCD: 17,0" WXGA
- Memory: 3GB DDR2
- HDD: 250 GB
- ODD: DVD Super Multi Double Layer
- Modem: 56k
- LAN: Giga lan
- Softload: Windows Vista Home Premium SP1

I will have to get used to Vista...(would have preferred to keep my XP but that wasn't possible) and to the keyboard (keep typing wrong letters).

The kids are very happy too, they get my old desk top and can finally play all their tycoon and sims games!

This is it for now, see you all later!
(off to the scrapbook store in Voorburg for my weekly coffee with Yvon!)

Friday 8 August 2008

Nelly's verjaardag was erg leuk.

Nelly's birthday (my sister in law) was a huge success, mainly due to the wonderful weather!! It was extremely warm and the kids played under the garden hose the whole day. They had so much fun! (and when the kids have fun, we have too...).

Yesterday however, the weather was terrible; we had thunder and rain and had to stay indoors almost the whole day. The kids were bored, but I had finally time to scrap! Show you later..... Later in the day we went to my sis and we "swopped" kids: Manon stayed there and Robin is staying here. Everybody happy!

I'm on Zarah's sketches site!!

Yeah! Today Zarah showed the layout I made for her new sketch on her site. Check it out here: http://inspirascrap.blogspot.com/ no 17. Love her sketches and am very honored to be one of her guest designers!!!

This is the sketch:

And here is the layout I made:

And now....off to my sister in law's birthday!! Be back later today.

Winkelen!

Yes! Today we finally bought my new laptop!!! A beauty! I'm so happy!! I'll show you a photo tomorrow!

As Timothy was staying with his friend Hugo there were only 4 of us today. Strange!

This morning Nelleke and I took our dogs, Jippie and Siepie, and the kids for a walk in the "Delftse Hout". The dogs loved it; they jumped right into the water! After walking for about an hour the kids began complaining and we decided to go back home.

In the afternoon we went shopping and Mats rode on several "kiddie cars". He had so much fun! Lucky for me I had my (little) camera with me.

And of course, we had something to drink & eat at the Hema.....

When we returned home Manon and I scrapbooked a little (photo tomorrow, as it's too dark now) and around 7 pm I went to pick up Tim. He had had the time of his life (went to an indoor kids playground), was terribly tired and went straight to bath and to bed!

In the evening I watched an episode of James Herriot: nostalgia!! I bought the dvd of the first series last week as I got the 4th series for mothers day and liked it so much that now I want to have the rest of the series as well! And by now it's 11.40 pm, I'm dog tired, but still have to walk the dog, and wanna go to bed!

Welterusten! xx

Weer heerlijk gescrapt!

Had me nou juist zo leuk geleken!

Today I had such a good idea for my little club of scrapbooking friends: each week one of us choses a challenge/contest/sketch from the internet in which we all participate. The pages would then be uploaded on the relevant site as well as on this blog. But unfortunately they are not as enthusiastic about my idea as I had hoped...... (snif).

But with or without my friends I started anyway! I found a fun contest on this site: http://colormedaisy.com/gallery/. You have to either use their kit or use the colours of their kit. The colours were blue OR green with black and white and a splash of colour. So I choose green, black, white and a splash of orange. The photo is Mats in his new crocodile towel. The PP is all American Crafts.

Nook kit has arrived!

Joepie, vanmorgen werd mijn Scrapbooknook kit bezorgd! Heerlijk!

Yes! This morning my mailman brought me my new Nook kit! Full of October Afternoon and Inque Boutique! Can't wait to get started!!!

But first things first: a visit to Yvon at SBN, http://www.scrapbooknederland.com/, for a cup of coffee and some new papers from Scenic Route and We R Memorykeepers. I love all those bright colours!! Nothing more cause Patrick finds I have enough to fill my own store ....... (a girl can never have enough scrapbooking stuff!)

This afternoon I started filling an envelop for the fellow scrapbooker I was assigned for a Nook SWAP; my very first SWAP. Can't wait for my envelop to arrive!!

Zo schattig!!

And this drawing Mats made for Timothy, because Timothy loves red. And when I asked him `do you love red too?`, he answered `no, Mats loves yellow`. So very sweet!!!

Zonsverduistering

Leuk!! (Jammer dat het zo vreselijk heet was!)

Yesterday we took all the kids (5! our nephews incl) to Schiphol to look at all the planes. From the panorama terrace we had such a great view! Pity it was so terribly hot and there wasn't a spot of shadow to be found!

After Schiphol we went straight home and into the pool!! (well, the kids, not me). They had such fun! They jumped via the trampoline into the pool while yelling to their hearts content! Luckily almost all our neighbours are on holiday! During dinner we asked the kids what they had liked most today and guess what they answered? Playing on the NDS!!! I know what I'm gonna do next time we have the kid's friends over: NOTHING!

This morning we have been looking at the solar eclipse. The last one was 9 years ago so even Timothy had never seen one before! Since we had kept the glasses we could all have a good look! Beautiful!

Mats wilde natuurlijk ook even kijken waar wij nou allemaal zo enthousiast over waren.

Even Mats wanted to know what it was all about! He then kept asking if he could have another look at the moon! So sweet!
