Not An Ordinary Day - Pretty Little Studio and Homecoming!

Hi everyone, Today I want to share a new Pretty Little Studio layout I made. The photo I used is my oldest son on his 6th birthday when he got this “big boy” bike. He was so proud of it! So when I saw the Silly Monkey die-cut with the bike I knew which photo to scrap! I so love this collection with the bright colors and the fun designs and I adore the vellum! In this layout I used the vellum with the yellow stars beneath my photo and it was just what it needed!

and a few details: isn't the monkey on the bike cute?!

Love the vellum in this collection:

Products Used: PLS Silly Monkey: Phrase Word Strips, Pennant Flags, bunting flags, monkey die-cuts, Tabs, Polaroid tags, Vellum, Pattern Paper, Bingo Card; cardstock: American Crafts; enamel arrows, Teensy Type alpha stickers: Doodlebug; wood veneer: Pinkfresh Studio and Studio Calico.

An now on to something else entirely: As most of you know my 17 year old daughter left last August to attend High School for a year. So for the last 2.5 months she's been in Louisiana having a great time. Yes, she's homesick now and again, but most of the time she's immensely enjoying herself.

Last week was Homecoming week and for us in The Netherlands this is a totally unknown concept. I decided to look it up and found this: Homecoming is the tradition of welcoming back alumni of a school. It is a tradition in many universities, colleges, and high schools in the United States. It usually includes activities for students and alumni, such as sports and culture events and a parade through the streets of the city or town.

I really love the idea of celebrating this and wish they would do that here too! But I guess if they did it wouldn't have been so special for Manon, lol. Here are some photos of my dd in her Homecoming dress:

with two other exchange students:

with lots of her new friends:

And of course a photo at a football game:

Thanks for stopping my blog today! Really appreciate it!!
xoxo

  7. What a fun, bright and cheerful layout !! Love it; those little monkeys are just too adorable. It is lovely to see that your daughter is enjoying herself !!! I live in Canada and we don't have the Homecoming tradition either; it must be something uniquely American. A lovely tradition it is.
