Trick Or Treat - The Cut Shoppe

Hi everyone, happy Halloween! Today I'm sharing a fun (and not scary at all) Halloween layout on The Cut Shoppe's blog! Ever since I laid eyes on Ashley Horton's "Ghost Town" collection I've been wanting to give it a try and what better occasion than October 31st?! I used a photo from my daughter during her foreign exchange high school year in 2014 when she joined in a "Trunk or Treat" project at school with her friends.

The Ghost Town collection I used for my layout is a digital/printable scrapbook collection also designed by Ashley Horton and you can find in The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store as well. The colors and designs of this collection are really unique and I was so happy I got the opportunity to use it.

I also used the Halloween Wood Veneer Set designed by Ashley. This set consists of  9 Halloween wood veneers. The largest piece is 2 inches wide, the others are smaller. Aren't they awesome?!

Except for the Ghost Town collection and the Halloween wood veneers I also used the Happy Haunting cut file

I just love the large cut file on the left and thought that cut from black cardstock it would be a perfect fit for my layout. I used a laser printer to print the Ghost Town collection and because I can't print 12"x 12" just yet, I printed everything measuring 8"x 8". The light blue strip of paper behind the cut file is an 8"x 8" paper cut in half and then adhered on the right, overlapping in the middle.

The collection also contains a digital/printable Cut Apart Sheet, digital/printable Sets of Ephemera Pieces, journaling cards and an alpha & number symbol set, which are a really fun addition to the papers!

This was my project for today. I really hope you liked it. Don't forget to check The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store for more Halloween cut files and product.

Thank you so much for stopping by our blog! Wishing you a thrilling Halloween!

Pebbles Trick Or Treat Cards

Hello friends! Last week these scary Halloween cards I created for Pebbles Inc. were up on their blog. Fall has finally set in here in The Netherlands; it's dark early and outside the wind is howling and the sky is grey with impeding rain. Perfect weather to create some Halloween cards!! I used Pebbles' new Trick Or Treat collection and couldn't get enough of the fun designs & embellishments.

All three cards measure 4"x 6" and have a black dotted cardstock base. The design for the cards is pretty simple: using the 6"x 6" paper pad I chose 3 or 4 different sheets for each cards and trimmed every sheet 1 centimeter smaller than the one before:

In this case the very last sheet was trimmed to 2" and cut in a pendant shape. I layered all the sheets on top of each other and machine stitched them before adhering them to the black cardstock base:

After adhering the patterned papers to the black cardstock I embellished it with some fun die-cuts, thread and puffy stickers:

And because I love sending cards with matching envelopes I used my We R envelope punch board to create some envelopes as well!

I can't wait to put them in the mail to send them! I still think it's more fun to receive a "real" card in the mail than an e-card in my e-mail box.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Wishing you a great day!

Doodlebug's Here Comes Santa Claus Digital Cut Files!

Hi everyone! Today I want to share this layout I created for Doodlebug using their new digital cut files. I'm just so excited about these cut files! I love my Silhouette Cameo and use it for (almost) every project I create. I'm over the moon that Doodlebug has now collections with matching cut files! I created a layout using the "Santa In Truck" cut file, belonging to the "Here Comes Santa Claus" collection.

And this is the cut file I used:

Well? What do you think? Isn't Santa in his truck adorable?!

Here's a quick look how I created him: I opened the cut file in my Silhouette Cameo and arranged all the pieces by color:

I assembled lots of scraps from my Petite Prints collection and some left-over cardstock pieces and placed these on my cutting mat:

I set my Silhouette to blade 6, speed 5 and it cut just perfectly even the smallest pieces:

Next I got myself a coffee, set down at my table and opened the Santa In Truck photo on my laptop and started assembling all the cut pieces:

This was just soooo much fun!! In no time at all Santa was finished! Isn't he fun?

And here are a few other close-ups of my layout:

If you're looking where to find the files here's a link to Lori Whitlock's shop and the Silhouette Online Store.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! I can't wait to see what you will create with the new cut files! Don't forget to share on our facebook page and tag us on Instagram!

Have a great day!

LOVE - Stuck?! Sketches

It's half October already and that means time for a new sketch challenge over at Stuck?! Sketches. Here's the layout I created for the new sketch. I used another old photo of Manon & Tim and used lots of product from Crate (Notes & Things and Maggie Holmes' Shine).

this is the sketch Laura designed:

And here are a few more close-ups of my page:

I love the sketch with the 4 rectangles. Instead of 4 photos I used only one and three journaling cards. I adore Crate's "Notes & Things" collection but never managed to put my hands on the 12x12 papers, therefore I combined what I did have with the "Shine" collection. Love the result.

If you like the sketch, then why not play along?! If you do then please link up your layouts over in the sidebar on the Stuck?! Sketches blog by October 29th at midnight EST to be in the running for one of the prizes! All prizes will be drawn randomly using Random.org to pick a number.

Sponsors are: 7 Dots Studio, who are offering a $20.00 gift certificate to their online store to one lucky participant!

and ScrapMatts, who are offering 2 large pieces of chipboard to a second lucky participant!

Also one scrapbooker from each challenge will be chosen to guest with us at a later date!

Can't wait to see what you'll create!!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Folded Paper Pumpkins - Pebbles

Hello friends! Last Tuesday I shared this "paper pumpkin" home decor project on Pebbles blog. Autumn is my favorite season of the year and I just love decorating my house for this season. Over the years I've collected quite a few bits and pieces, both for inside and outside the house, but every year I just need to create something new and for today's blog post I decided to make these paper pumpkins using the wonderful Woodland Forest collection.

I just love how they turned out with their perfect colors and pretty papers. Right now I'm using them to brighten up my living room, but with Thanksgiving I'm going to use them to decorate my diner table and that's why I decided to create matching "place cards" as well:

The mini kraft pocket tags were just perfect for this purpose. I selected the "thank you" phrase tags from the Homemade phrase tags package and inserted those in the pockets, but coming Thanksgiving I want to write a more personal message for everyone and put those in the pockets.

Let me show you quickly how I made the paper pumpkins. It's really very simple:

  1. Gather the 6"x 6" paper pad from the Woodland Forest collection, a few "thank you" phrase tags and a 2.5" circles punch (or 1.5" for the pumpkin decoration on the pockets).
  2. Punch 6 circles.
  3. Trim off a little strip from each circle.
  4. Score the circles in the middle.
  5. Fold the circles in half (and ink the edges if you like)
Next glue all sides together, place a little stick (or a thin strip of paper) in the centre and place one of the labels/tags over it. Add two punched leaves and the pumpkin is ready!

To create this pumpkin to decorate a place card (pocket tag) is similar. Just use a smaller circle punch and don't glue all the sides of the pumpkin together, but glue the last one to the pocket. Add the initial of the person the pocket/card is for and you're ready!

How I love this season with it's beautiful colors and wonderful traditions!
