Back To School - Pebbles Girl Squad Cards

Hi friends! For Pebbles I created a few "back to school" cards which I haven't posted here yet. I love making cards especially with the fabulous Girl Squad collection!!

What I love about Pebbles’ Girl Squad collection is that it can easily be used to create projects for boys as well. For those of you who want to know how I made them, here’s a quick tutorial.

To Begin:

Cut a piece of cardstock measuring 4″ x 12″; fold it in half (the cards measure 4″ x 6″).  Cut two strips of patterned paper: one measuring 2″x 6″ and the other 0.5″ x 6″.  Grab your Thickers words, washi tape, die-cuts, (puffy) stickers, enamel dots and a white Sharpie:

1. Fold the piece of cardstock in half and cover the bottom with the 2″ x 6″ strip of patterned paper:

2. Add the 0.5″ x 6″ strip of patterned paper to the top of paper from step 1; also add a piece of washi tape beneath:

3. Glue a die-cut in the top right corner and adhere one of Thickers words above the patterned paper:

4. Add one of the smaller die-cuts in the bottom left corner and (in this case) a sticker above the Thickers word:

5. Create a little cluster in the bottom left corner by adding three enamel dots and a die-cut. Add a puffy sticker as well, overlapping half onto the sticker above the Thickers word:

6. Last but not least, use a white pen to doodle a line along the edge of the top half of the card:

That’s it!

I used this same concept for all three cards and I really like how they turned out. Hope you do too!

Here are all three of them together:

I sooo adore the Pebbles Girl Squad collection!!

Step-By-Step Tutorial for My Creative Scrapbook

Hi everyone! Last Thursday I had this step-by-step stitching tutorial up on the blog of My Creative Scrapbook and I thought I'd post it here as well. I've created this layout using the MCS August Main Kit and one of the MCS August cut files and my Cameo.

This is the page I created:

And here's how I did this:

I started by opening the MCS August digital cut files:

Next I selected the "Love This Place" cut file and resized it:

I selected the shape and in the cut settings on the right hand side I clicked on "perforate" (see photo below) and sent it to my Silhouette.

Instead of cutting the shape the Silhouette made tiny cuts:

I had this photo of my boys printed and selected a few papers from the kit and found some matching embroidery threads in stash that I wanted to use:

Stitching always takes longer than anticipated, but because I skipped lots of holes it went very quickly nonetheless:

I decided to use four colors of blue thread and used three of them I used at random, but the heart got it's own blue color:

As I don't like too much of white space I decided to pull out my watercolor paints again and colored the inside of the letters and heart in a light blue:

Now I got to the actual "scrapping" part. I matted the photo and added a little border and got started: the photo went on the left side of my page and two banners were adhered at the top and bottom of my page:

Stickers and chipboard were added:

A flair button and a chipboard piece were adhered in the heart:

Last but not least came the handwritten journaling, the date stamp and the paint splatter:

With the addition of a few star stickers my page was done!

Hope you like it!!

Here's a close-up of the heart with the fun flair button (I'm a huge fan of flair buttons and was so happy they were included in the kit!):

A close-up of the stitched shape. If you look closely you'll see where I skipped some of the pré punched holes.

And a final close-up of the photo with the cluster of embellishments around it:

For more August Main Kit inspiration hop over to the MCS Design Team gallery and if you're interested in information about the kit club then you can find the details HERE.

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to take a peek at my project!

World Traveler - My Creative Scrapbook August Main Kit Layout

Hi everyone! Sadly I had to go back to work after 2,5 weeks doing nothing but sitting in the sun, swimming and reading. Don't get me wrong, I love my work, but still I would rather read or scrapbook! But luckily there's the weekends to scrap, so here's a page I created over the weekend using the fabulous August Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook:

And a few close-ups: I really love the travel stickers from "Photo Play Paper"! Here I used three of them to create a little cluster on the right side of my photo.

And then there's the date. I stamped it three times. I just read on Facebook that lots of people hate the multiple stamping of the date, but I really like it. I like that it's bit "messy" and I think it adds something extra to my page. But of course this made me curious as to what you think?! Please let me know ... like it or hate it??

And on the left side of my photo a journaling card & stickers from Echo Park plus one of the awesome AC Project Life flair buttons!

And in case you missed it, for more inspiration & information please visit the My Creative Scrapbook website! On the MCS blog you'll find photos of all four August kits and in the MCS gallery you'll find all the layouts the DT created with all the kits!

Thank you so much for taking a look at my page! And don't forget ... I would really love to know: multiple stamping of the date: love it / hate it???
