Top 9 favorite layouts of 2018

At the end of the year I like to scroll through my projects and decide which ones I like best. As I started working in the office for 4 days a week again this year, I scrapped a lot less than before and so I have less projects to choose from.

In the end I chose 9 favorite layouts, most of them created with collections from my favorite Manufacturers: Doodlebug, Pebbles Inc., Simple Stories, Crate Paper, Echo Park & Jillibean Soup. Here they are:

Thank you so much for visiting my blog in 2018 and I hope I'll continue to see you here in 2019.

Wishing you all a very happy, healthy and creative 2019!!

Christmas Cards - December Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook

Hello friends. For My Creative Scrapbook I created a couple of Christmas cards using the fabulous December Creative Kit featuring the "Cozy and Bright" collection from Pebbles Inc. I've made three layouts with this kit, so for this project I thought I'd create a set of Christmas cards. And although the cards were already up on the MCS blog and Christmas has come and gone, I thought I'd still share them here on my blog.

All Pebbles collections contain at least one sheet that's just perfect to create cards with. In this case it's the "Merry Little Christmas" paper. Here are the cards I made with it:

All with just this one sheet "Merry Little Christmas":

I started by cutting all the 3"x 4" cards apart:

Next I cut pieces of patterned paper just a little bit larger and glued the cards on top:

I used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges:

For the card base I chose red and green cardstock and cut them a bit larger than these matted cards, but twice as wide and folded them in half to create a card base:

Most of the cards I adhered straight away to the cardstock base (using double sided adhesive tape), but in some cases I added one of the fun die-cuts first:

Other cards I embellished later, adding a die-cut or sticker, like here:

Some were so very cute, they needed no extra's:

And some could use a bit of glitter:

I was done in no time at all! and I really love the result:

As I always love to receive handmade cards, I thought it would be nice to send a few handmade cards as well. Hope you like them too!

Last but not least a photo of the December Creative Kit:

FaLaLaLaLa | JustNick Studio & the December Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook

Hello friends! For JustNick I created another Christmas layouts which I'm sharing here today. I'm a huge fan of everything Christmas and I LOVE the JustNick Christmas cut files! Have you already checked them out? For my page I chose two: the "FA LA LA LA LA" Christmas tree and the "Naughty or Nice" expression.

Here's the layout I created with photos of our family Christmas brunch tradition using the December Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook featuring the Cozy and Bright collection from Pebbles Inc. I used bright red cardstock to cut both the tree and the title from. Not only because I associate red with Christmas, but also because it's my favorite color. Red makes me happy!

And these are the cut files I used:

And here are a few close-ups of my page:

What I love about this "open cut" Christmas tree is that you can so eaily tuck stickers and die-cuts behind it, like I did with the gingerbread man and one of the presents. And don't you just love those funny Christmas elves!

When I was almost done, I added a bit of machine stitching and paint drops for the finishing touch. I really love how "happy" this page turned out.

Thank you so much for stopping by today to have a look at my page. If you want to check out the Chrismas cut files in the store, just click HERE

Wishing you and your loved ones a very merry Christmas!!

Fringe Christmas Tree - Step-By-Step for My Creative Scrapbook

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing step-by-step I create every month for the blog of My Creative Scrapbook! I'm a huge fan of Christmas kits and the MCS December Main Kit is absolutely stunning! It's filled with the Simple Vintage Christmas collection from Simple Stories. I decided to put my fringe scissors to good use and create a "fringe Christmas tree". Here's the layout I created:

Here's how I created this page: for one of my other December layouts I cut out the Christmas Tree (one of the free MCS December cut files) and for today's layout I used the left-over negative of the tree:

This is the cut file I used (which you can find HERE scroll down):

Next I just cut 10 strips of paper, 2" wide and using my fringe scissors I cut them for approx. three quarters:

To determine the order of the colors & designs of the tree, I placed them on top of the tree, changing them around until I was satisfied and only then I cut them to the right size:

I turned the white cardstock around and adhered the fringed strips to the back of the tree, starting at the top. I used both a bit of liquid glue and scotch tape to adhere them.

When I turned my white cardstock around again it looked like this:

I really love the fringed look of the tree!

I adhered the white cardstock on top of the red cardstock and as I love stitching on my layouts I used my sewing machine to stitch both around the layout as well as around the tree:

Now I just had to add my photo and embellish! The December Main kit contains many die-cuts, chipboards & stickers, so embellishing is easy! I also typed a few lines of journaling, cut them in strips and added them at the bottom of & below the tree.

This is it! Hope you like my page! Here's a photo of the kit I used for this page, the December Main kit:

Hi friends! Have you seen the "12 Days of Giveaways" at JustNick?! Nicole is giving away 12 cut files and today it's already the 7th day and it's my turn on the blog to share the project I created with today's free cut file!!

Today's free cut file is this awesome snowflakes cut file: "Snowflakes 5":

I decided to use one of the snowflakes as the background for my layout (the one at the bottom left side) and created this page using an older collection from Bella Blvd:  "Christmas Cheer":

Here are a few close-ups of my page:

I cut the snowflake from the "Daily Details" sheet, a sheet full of different colored snowflakes and love how it turned out.

I love background cut files and often use a "normal sized" cut file and enlarge it so I can use it for my background, like I did here.
