Featured on Chickaniddy Crafts!!! & Winner Ruby Rock-It giveaway!

A couple of weeks ago Pam emailed me if she could feature me and my layouts on the Chickaniddy Crafts blog! and of course I said yes! You can check out the "in the Spotlight blog post" HERE!! (would love if you would leave me a comment over there!)

Here're the two pages I created with their "Date Night" collection:

First this one of Manon and her friend Susan, enjoying a fun night in:

and a few close-ups:

The inspiration for this page actually came from the title of the “Date Night” collection. When I was looking for photos I could scrap using this collection I just couldn’t decide. I didn’t have any “date night” photos, only “night in” photos. And then I thought why not use those?! The collection is perfect for it! For this layout I started with the “Backwoods Lovin” paper and cut three strips of the paper for the base of my page (other side Backwoods Lovin, Plaid is Rad, A Girl’s Best Friend). I matted the photos of the girls (my daughter and her friend) and decided how to place them. I like the playful effect of placing two photos a bit on top of each other. Next I added stickers, Silhouette cuts and a few wood veneers. And that was more or less it. A trick I have when using stickers, is that I make them “unsticky” first. Because that way I can place them anywhere on my page to see where they look best, before actually adhering them. When I do decide to adhere them I often use some foam tape.

And the second layout is this one with Manon and Jelmer:

Looking at it now, I wished I had used colored photos, but the blue of the huge diamond in the background was too blue for this collection and I had my heart set on using these pics.

This layout was created using the fabulous “Date Night” collection and features my daughter and her boyfriend. I just love the soft colors and pretty patterns of this collection and because all sheets are double sided I had a hard time deciding which side of the paper I should use! I started this layout with a sheet of white cardstock and a base consisting of the vertical strip of the “Backwoods Lovin” paper and a glassine bag on top. I then decided how I wanted to place the two photos on this base and started adding little pieces of paper and stickers behind my photos. Last but not least I added different Silhouette cuts to my layout. When the time came to adhere everything in place I made sure to add the glue/sticky tape only in the middle of my paper or photo, so that later on I would always be able to add even more elements!

When my layout was finished I walked away from it and when I returned the next day I decided it needed a bit more “zest” and matted the layout on a sheet yellow cardstock and added a couple of gold sequins and a few paint splatters."
