Purple Pumpkin February Sketch Challenge!

It's the first of the month (February! can you believe it?!!) and that means there's a new sketch challenge to be found on Purple Pumpkin's blog! This time I'm the one who designed it :). So I really really hope you'll play too! I would love to see what other crafters do with my sketch! To join PP challenges you're NOT obliged to use any of their products, but if you play you might win some! 

Omdat het de eerste van de maand is, heeft Purple Pumpkin vandaag een nieuwe schets challenge. Dit keer ben ik degene die de schets gemaakt heeft. Ik zou het dus onwijs leuk vinden als je tijd hebt om mee te doen! Om mee te doen, hoef je géén spullen van Purple Pumpkin te gebruiken, maar als je wint dan krijg je ze toch! Hier de layout die ik gemaakt heb: de foto is in New York genomen en ik heb de collectie van Jillibean Soup (Irish Farm House Soup) gebruikt.

Valentine's Kids Crafts - Imaginisce

When I mentioned what project I was going to do for today, my 9 year old son jumped up and said that he wanted to help! Now, how cool is that? He grabbed his coloring pens and some paper and started drawing this flower for his dad (between the plates of our dinner we were eating!)

Toen ik vorige week aan tafel vertelde dat ik voor Imaginisce een valentijns project moest maken dat een kind ook zou kunnen maken, sprong Mats van tafel op, greep zijn stiften, papier en schaar en maakte deze prachtige bloem! Gewoon tussen de borden waar het avondeten nog op lag. Maar ik vond het zo lief, dat ik het maar zo liet.

Later that week we went to Ikea to buy a photo frame for his drawing and as soon as we arrived home he said he wanted to decorate the frame. I quickly grabbed my scraps from the new “My Baby” collection (as the pink colors a the design on the “B”side of the papers is just perfect!) and a heart punch and gave those to him. He punched a whole lot of hearts, big and small. 

Later die week zijn we toen samen naar Ikea gegaan om een lijstje voor zijn kunstwerk uit te zoeken. Eenmaal thuis ging hij druk aan de slag met het ponsen van diverse maten harten en maakte ik vast de ondergrond voor zijn bloem.

While he did that I created a background for his flower, layering and stitching the papers. Then we put the flower in the frame, added some punched hearts “confetti” and closed the frame. Last but not least my son adhered punched hearts to the outside of the photo frame. I’m really loving the result!

De geponste harten plakte hij op de lijst en de hele kleintjes gebruikten we als een soort confetti om tussen zijn kunstwerk en het glas te doen:

Leuk geworden hè? Pat vindt het vast leuk!

Pocket Page Protector Tutorial - Pretty Little Studio

Last Friday my quick and easy tutorial on how to use "pocket page protectors" on your layout was up on Pretty Little Studio's blog and today I'm gonna share it here too - just in case you missed it!

Seeing as “pocket pages” are all the rage right now, I thought it would be fun to use (part of) a plastic pocket page protector on my layout, because like many of you I’ve got piles of these protectors lying around my scrap room. For my layout I chose to use part of this pocket page protector by Becky Higgins:

Using my Fiskars trimmer I cut off one of the pockets:

Next I punched a lot of hearts, using one of my Epiphany Crafts tools: 

... put them in the pocket, added a speech bubble (cut with my Cameo) and used my sewing machine to sew the speech bubble in place and the pocket shut:

And here’s my completed layout (with the pocket nicely incorporated) and a few close-ups. Hope you like it!

Siblings - Imaginisce

When I saw the new sketch #260 at Creative Scrappers I just had to use it! I'm loving sketches with triangles at the moment, so this one got printed straight away. For my page I used one of the new winter collections from Imaginsce: "Perfect Vacation" and of course a photo taken during our vacation.

Toen ik schets #260 van Creative Scrappers zag heb ik 'm gelijk geprint om te gebruiken. Ik ben op het moment echt gek op layouts c.q. schetsen met driehoeken. Voor mijn layout heb ik één van de nieuwe wintercollecties van Imaginisce gebruikt "Perfect Vacation" en dus een foto van een vakantie gekozen, in dit geval van de vakantie in Frankrijk afgelopen augustus. Ik heb 'm al eerder gescrapt, maar omdat ieder zijn eigen album heeft geeft dat niet.

I'm in love with this collection! It's awesome ... one side of the paper has a "busy" design and the other side a neutral one. What I love too are all the embellishments, stamps and cards that come with this collection: 

Wat een heerlijk collectie is dit weer! De voorkant van de collectie heeft een "druk" design en de achterkant is neutraal. Ook de embellishments zijn geweldig:

Love my friends - Websters Pages

The entire week challenges were posted on the blog of Webster's Pages and because I have quite a Websters stash (from one of their warehouse sales) I decided to join in one of them: "scrap using a soft element". This is what I made: a layout about a day (scrap)shopping with my friends in Utrecht. 

Afgelopen week had Webster's Pages een paar hele leuke uitdagingen op hun blog geplaatst en omdat ik nog zoveel van hun spullen heb, heb ik er aan eentje mee gedaan: "gebruik bij je project iets zachts". Nou, dit is het geworden: een layout over een dagje uit met mijn vriendinnen naar de scrapwinkel in Nieuwegein (Scrapdelight) en aansluitend stadten, wandelen en eten in Utrecht. Was een super dag!!

I chose all kinds of scraps from my Webster's box and am afraid I can't tell you from which collections they come! This feather "flower" is by far the softest element I used: 

Helaas kan ik je niet meer precies vertellen welke collecties ik allemaal gebruikt heb ... van alles wat eigenlijk. De veren "bloem" is het zachtste element op mijn pagina:

I added a few "non" Webster's Pages elements too, like the washi tape, the paper clip, the twine, the doily and the wood veneers. Most of these are available in the Purple Pumpkin store. 

Verder heb ik nog een paar dingen toegevoegd die niet van Webster's zijn zoals de washi tape, de paperclip, de wood veneers, het twine en de doily.

Out Of The Box challenge - Pretty Little Studio

Yesterday the layout I create for Pretty Little Studio's OOTB challenge was up on their blog. Using their Neapolitan collection and the sketch pen in my Cameo I made this:

Gisteren was er weer een nieuwe "out of the box" challenge op Pretty Little Studio's blog en dit is de layout die ik ervoor gemaakt heb. Ik heb voornamelijk de "Neapolitan" collectie ervoor gebruikt plus allerlei "bits and pieces" die ik op mijn bureau had liggen. De chipboard pijlen komen bijv. van UmWowStudio, het mannetje is van Jillibean Soup, wat houten hartjes van Studio Calico en het alphabet van Pebbles. De wereldbol heb ik met de Cameo en de sketchpen gemaakt.

I added a few bits and pieces from my stash to the page like the chipboard arrows from UmWowStudio, some wood veneer, a Jillibean Soup corrugated man, Pebbles corrugated alpha's, some washi tape, twine and staples. Love how it turned out!
