Best Friends - Pretty Little Studio

Hey everyone! For Pretty Little Studio I created this Pinterest inspired layout. The Pinterest photo we chose for today’s post is a really easy one to be inpired by. What first caught my eye were the beautiful colors; I looked through all my PLS collections for the right colors and in the end I chose papers from the Let’s Go Travel collection, the You & Me collection and the Baby Claire collection. Of course I was also inspired by the form of the cake. For this I chose a round cut file from The Cut Shoppe (Get Around) to serve as the base for my layout. Last but not least I took inspiration from the fact that all the colors on the cake were mixed, which I also did on my page. Here’s what I created:

and this is the Pinterest photo we used:

As you can see I also mixed the blue, yellow and pink colors and randomly adhered them behind the cut file.

The photo I used is one of my daughter and niece on the beach almost two years ago. Except for being nieces they are also the best of friends – despite the age difference! Therefore the You & Me die-cut was perfect for a title, also because of the colors of course

The large butterfly die-cut, the flair, the tab and the word sticker are all from the You & Me collection. The Bingo card is from the Let’s Go Travel collection.

For the finishing touch I used my chevron punch in the left top corner and the bottom right corner of my layout and adhered a piece of patterned paper behind the chevrons. I also stamped the date (twice) and added a few drops of color spray and I was done!

I just love the colors in this Pinterest photo and hope I did them justice with my page. Here’s a list of what I used:

  • You & Me collection: Patterned Paper: Kissable 8×8, Love is Kind 8×8, Violets are Blue 8×8; Vellum: Tickle Me Gray 8×8; Flair: Heart You Buttons; Stickers: Valentine Words; Tabs: Together; Die-cuts: butterfly 4″; Word Art: Best Friends.
  • Let’s Go Travel collection: Patterned Paper: Portland 8×8; Vellum: Here 8×8 Blue, Zurich; Vellum Tape: Let’s Go; Bingo: Bahamas.
  • Baby Claire collection: Baby Claire Paper Pack 6×6.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today!

Have a great day!

Hello Hello - The Cut Shoppe

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a layout using one of the new cut files that was added to The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store only a few days ago: the Get Around cut file.

I used a photo from one of our vacations from some time ago. I've had it in my "to scrap" drawer for ages and never got around to scrap it. So for the layout I created for The Cut Shoppe last week I thought I would use it. Here's what I did:

I used Crate Paper's Cool Kid collection and really love how this turned out. From the "Get Around" cut file I only used the "hello hello" circle and cut it from Crate Paper's sheet called "Awesome". The little b/w "squares" came from the same cut and were the leftovers that I didn't plan on using, but last minute I decided to turn them around and to stick them back in the empty squares they came from. Okay, some of the texts ended up upside down but that doesn't bother me.

Here're some close-ups of the rest of the page. After adding some die-cuts, chipboard pieces and machine stitching I was done. Hope you like it!

And this is the Get Around cut file I used:

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Be sure to visit The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store for this and many more fabulous cut files!

When one door closes ....

... another opens! When Pam Rangel, owner of the My Creative Scrapbook kit club, learned that I was no longer a DT member of the Like For Ever kit club she asked me to join her "permanent" design team immediately! So, as of April 1st I am now on the official DT of My Creative Scrapbook!! Thanks Pam, for this opportunity!

April 5 was the reveal day for the four April kits My Creative Scrapbook offers, if you hop over to the MCS blog you can see all four of them. As I design with the Main Kit I'll show you the kit on my blog as well as the first of my five projects. The April Main Kit is filled with Pink Paislee's Oh My Heart collection by Paige Evans. I adore the bright colors in this collection and had the time of my life playing with it!!

Here's my first page:

During her High School year my daughter had her wish come true and went to Disney in Florida! Here she is with Mickey and Minnie. I printed a large Mickey head in MS Word and used it to cut a Mickey head from one of the PP papers. Love how this turned out!

I used lots of the die-cuts from the Oh My Heart collection, as well as the Heidi Swapp stamps, one of the words from Creative Embellishements and the Thickers that were also included in the kit.

Love that copper metallic phone die-cut!!

In my basket with little punches I found this one of Mickey's head and just head to use it!

After adding some yellow color mist and machine stitching I was done! Hope you like it!

And I promised a photo of the MCS April Main Kit, here it is:

Hop over to the MCS site to either have a look at the DT gallery for inspiration or to have a look at the terms for a subscription!!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and wishing you a wonderful Saturday! Happy crafting!

Last Layout for Like For Ever Kit Club

I was so sad to learn that Nicola had to make the decision to close the Like For Ever kit club. I really loved her kits and looked forward to it every month. The April kit was the last one we received, but as the kit club closed at the beginning of April this layout is the first and so far the only one I created with it. I used a photo of me in NY last year and really like how it turned out:

The kit was filled with lots of Crate Paper's Oasis collection and some Chasing Dreams products. So awesome!! For this page I started with a bit of paper weaving and used it as a mat behind my photo:

And two more close-ups ... love that gold heart!!

The awesome acetate word is from Heidi Swapp.

I'm so grateful for Nicola having me on her team for the last 4 months and I'll miss her and the rest of the Like For Ever "family". It was (and still is) an amazing supportive group of scrappers.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Wishing you wonderful weekend!

All About Circles - Scrapbook & Cards Today!

For the "Free Cut File Tuesday" on the blog of Scrapbook & Cards Today Nicole Nowosad asked me to join her on the blog and to create a layout with the cut file she designed for SCT.

Here's what I created using her cut file and the Sunshiny Days collection from Pebbles

And this is the cut file, you can download the file for free on the SCT blog

I decided to both cut and draw this cut file. I drew it first and punched holes around the circles and used embroidery thread in all colors of the rainbow to sew them. Next I also cut the cut file and used all the cut circles (the smaller ones) to adhere within the larger circles. Pebbles' Sunshiny Days collection with its bright colors was just perfect for my embroidered circles and my photo.

Here are a few close-ups:

Don't you just love the small puffy flamingo sticker?!

Thanks for stopping by and hop over to the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog to see what Nicole did with this cut file.
