Guest Designer for Jillibean Soup!

Hi friends! I was so thrilled when I was asked to guest design for Jillibean Soup for the month of November! They sent me the wonderful Garden Harvest collection and I had a great time creating lots of projects with it. Today I thought I'd share the 3 layouts I created, with some tips & tricks as well.

Layout 1: Choose Joy

and a close-up:

Supply list:

Jillibean Soup:
Patterned Paper: Garden Harvest/Plant the Seeds, Plow the Field, Reap the Grain, Water the Goods, Harvest the Crop, Bite Sized Bits
Pea Pod Parts: Garden Harvest
Coordinating Cardstock Stickers: Garden Harvest
Epoxy Sticker Sheet: Garden Harvest
Adhesive Sequins: Teal Plum Sequins

Other: white cardstock, machine stitching, color mist, inkpad, date stamp, Silhouette Cameo, foam adhesive

Designer tips:
1. Use all the scraps and left-over bits of a collection to create one last layout. Layer all the left-over pieces of paper and place your photo on top. I even used a large left-over piece of paper, the negative of the circle that was cut from the Garden Harvest/Water the Goods patterned paper and used this as a frame on my page.
2. Use foam adhesive to adhere some of the pea pod parts to add dimension to your page.
3. Add shiny adhesive sequins to the center of the flowers on your paper for extra awesomeness.

Layout 2: Something Tells Me

And 2 close-ups:

Supply list:

Jillibean Soup:
Patterned Paper: Garden Harvest/Plow the Field, Harvest the Crop, Bite Sized Bits
Pea Pod Parts: Garden Harvest
Coordinating Cardstock Stickers: Garden Harvest
Epoxy Sticker Sheet: Garden Harvest
Baker’s Twine: Party Playground

Other: white cardstock, color bloom spray mist, inkpad, date stamp, black pen, machine stitching, butterfly punch

Designer tips:
1. Use a kitchen bowl to draw two large circles (the smaller one inside the other) and use your sewing machine to stitch these circles in two different colors.
2. Use a hand punch to punch lots of butterflies to place around the edge of the smaller circle.
3. Use a large brush and an ink pad to add color to the white cardstock.

Layout 3: Blessed

And 2 close-ups:

Supply list:

Jillibean Soup:
Patterned Paper: Garden Harvest/Plant the Seeds, Plant the Seeds, Plow the Field
Pea Pod Parts: Garden Harvest
Coordinating Cardstock Stickers: Garden Harvest

Other: white cardstock, color mist, color bloom spray mist, ink pad, date stamp, machine stitching, Silhouette Cameo, PixScan mat

Designer tip: Use the Silhouette PixScan mat and a mobile phone to scan and cut the flowers and leaves from the Garden Harvest/Plant the Seeds patterned paper with a Silhouette cutting system. Hand cutting will do too of course.

Grateful for JustNick & Funny Friends

Hi friends, today I'm on the JustNick blog with a Thankful (or rather, Grateful) layout using the brand new "Retro Hip Background" cut file.

And this is the Retro Hip Background cut file:

When I saw this cut file I new I wanted to use it straight away. I love background cut files, they are always so versatile and can be used for any and every layout you want to create.

This week's theme for the DT to use is "Thankful", but as I also wanted to use the new Crate Paper Christmas collection "Merry Days" that had just arrived at my doorstep, I chose to combine the two and created a Thankful/Christmas layout.

I have this great group of friends that I love to spend time with and every year for the last 10 years or so, we get together on a Sunday in December to spend the day scrapping, talking, eating and be merry. I'm so grateful to be able to call these girls my friends that I decided to do this Thankful layout about them.

Here are a few close-ups of my page:

I just love Christmas collections and this one is no exception! This is the first Chrismas layout I created this year and I think the Retro Hip Background cut file is a perfect match for my page!

Thank you so much for stopping by the JustNick blog today and don't forget to check out the JustNick store for this and more background cut files!

A step-by-step tutorial & the November Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook

Hello friends! After a busy week (both my daughter and I are now a year older :) ) I thought I'd share this step-by-step of one of my layouts I created for My Creative Scrapbook with their November Main Kit. I absolutely adore this month's kit with all the "Along the Way" goodies from Pebbles Inc. and had such a great time playing with this kit.

For this layout I chose a photo of my daughter reading one of her just bought books while on vacation in New Orleans last summer. Except for the November Main Kit I also used some of the free MCS November cut files. Here's what I made:

And these are some of the free cut files for November, you can find them HERE (click and scroll down):

I started by selecting the three designs I wanted to cut and selected & traced these on my Cameo:

I cut the flowers from the "Sweet Sentiments" paper and the leaves from the "Parkway" paper:

I placed them haphazardly on my white background cardstock in a way I thought I might want them:

I chose two colors of spray mist from my stash and used these to add some drops on the white cardstock:

Next I chose two different papers to mat my photo ("Window Box" and "Porch Swing"):

Once the photo was matted I placed it at the top of the cut flowers and tried out several of the gold foiled words for my title and lots of die-cuts to add to my page:

Once I decided which word I wanted to have for the title and which die-cuts and stickers I wanted to use, I started adhering everything. Except for glue I also used my trusted sewing machine for this.

Once I was done, I decided the top of the layout was still too bare and added a few extra elements:

After this I considered my layout finished! Here are a few more close-ups:

Thank you so much for stopping by to take a peek at my design process. Hope you like it!!

A colorful Fall layout for JustNick Studio

Hi there friends! Today I'm up on the blog of JustNick Studio sharing one of my Autumn layouts. For this page I decided to use one of JustNick's (cut) files to embroider the design on my layout instead of cutting the design. I chose the Floral Swag 3 and used it to create this page of my daughter:

Here's the cut file I used: Floral Swag 3

What I did was replacing the blade by a sketch pen and instead of cutting, I let my Silhouette Cameo draw the flowers on my cardstock. I then pierced holes along the lines and used embroidery floss in various colors to hand stitch the flowers and leaves.

I used Echo Park's "Celebrate Autumn" for my page as I just love the warm colors of the papers and because I love the owls and other cute critters in this collection!

Next I printed two small (3"x 4") photos of my girl, matted these and placed them above the flowers. I decided that the top of my layout was too white and cut a strip of patterned owl paper (4" x 12") and adhered this at the top of my layout, with a small border strip (0.5" x 12") below.

On both sides of the photos I added a little card and a few chipboard pieces:

As I thought there was too much white space in the largest flower of my embroidered design I punched 5 small circles and adhered these in the petals of the flower:

This is it. Hope you like it! There are more floral swag cut files in the JustNick store if you want to try some of them out to create Fall projects as well. Can't wait to see what you'll do!

Thanks for stopping by and wishing you happy scrapping!

HAPPY | My Creative Scrapbook

It's time to post the fourth and last layout I created with the October Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This page is about me and these photos were taken in a small 2nd hand book store in the UK where they also served coffee. In other words, my very favorite kind of store!

And here are a few close-ups:

How I love reading, coffee, the UK, scrapping, MCS, Simple Stories and these colors .... so many favorites in one layout!
