nieuwe layout

Today I finished this Xmas layout with the new October Afternoon pp. I stamped and hand cut the Xmas trees, machine stitched the circel and added a lot of glitters and ..... ready! a Xmas layout!!

Last Friday Manon and Tim (and the rest of the school) both ran for a good cause (guiding dogs for the blind) and collected about 20 euro's both. They had to run for 12 minutes in a park near by.

And then yesterday we had a "Sinterklaas party" at Patrick's work. We arrived an hour late because the road was closed and therefore the kids couldn´t participate in the activities, but luckily `Sinterklaas` was still there and had brought such nice presents that the kids forgot about their disappointment.

Naar school! / To school!!

Today our youngest went to school for the very first time! Although he didn't turn 4 yet the teacher asked him whether he wanted to come and play today and of course Mats said YES!! I'm not so sure how I feel about it all.....I loved having him at home, enjoyed our little routines in the morning (walking Jippie, drinking coffee and hot cocao, watching Nic junior, going to the library for hours, cycling together, visiting grandma and grandpa....), but now he's getting older he isn't always as happy as before with these routines. So maybe it is time to let go of him (a little) and be glad he wants to go to school too.

And just as we expected, Mats loved it all! He walked into the school and his class without hesitation, sat down between the other kids and waited for the things to come. According to Joke, his teacher, he enjoyed himself perfectly and there was no problem at all!!

All of sudden Patrick and I had some spare time!!! So had coffee and cake together in the center of town, which was great!!

I love these dark, windy and rainy days in November: outside it's cold, but inside it's cosy with the candles lighted and "sinterklaas" songs playing in the background. Kids full of anticipation whether "zwarte piet" has put something in their shoe...

Wednesday was the first time this year the kids were allowed to place their shoe in front of the fire place. And they didn't even forget to sing a few songs!

And because Patrick was away on one of his business trips I had the dining room table all to myself......scrapping time!

This picture is one of Mats (8 months old) and Jippie (3 months old). Don't you think they look cute together??? PP is Sassafras yet again.

This morning I decided to buy some of those gorgeous Sassafras papers. I still have a lot of photos of Manon when she was little (from my pre-scrap-period) and these papers are just perfect for those photos!

And this is it (I don't know what it is with the quality of my photos....it's always poor!):

A lot of fun things happening this week!!! On the 11th of November we "celebrated" St. Maarten. Celebrated between quotation marks because I doubt whether the children know what they are celebrating......the most important thing for them is to collect sweets! We gathered at 5.30 pm with about 50 children and their parents. All the kids were carrying lanterns and little bags for sweets. After rehearsing a few songs the kids went on their way.... Timothy was in such a rush to collect his sweets that he totally forgot he had to sing first!

And this is what Mats collected: En 3x raden wat hij het allerlekkerst vond? zijn mandarijntjes (die waren de volgende dag gelijk op en het snoep ligt er nog! wat een voorbeeldig kind he?)

And you know what he liked most? His mandarins!!

Then Thursday evening Manon had a little birthday party together with her friends. We had dinner in a little Indonesian restaurant and it was great fun!

Friday was my birthday (45!!!) and then Saturday Manon turned 12! So lots of visitors this weekend! and lots and lots of presents!

Here's a photo of most of Manon's presents.... don't mind all the stuff around it, that's just how our house is...

And here's a photo of mine! (sorry Conny, I forgot to show your candles): lots of scrappy things, watch, books, cinema tickets, cd....too much to mention all!

Today my recipe for pea soup was chosen as "recipe of the day" on one of the Dutch recipe sites. Too bad it's only available in Dutch!

Sunday morning we went to see all kinds of "birds of prey". The owner had a viewing organised and some of the kids were even allowed to carry an owl on their arm. Tim and Manon were quite excited about it, although they found it a bit scarry too (but wouldn't admit to that!). Since Timothy is writing a school piece about these birds, so this opportunity to take photos was very welcome! Although we arrived quite early, a lot of people beat us to it!

This one was our favorite: an 2 months old "Kiekeboe", really too cute!

Vind je 'm niet schattig??

Groetjes, See you!
Monique

Blog Hop on Colormedaisy

From November 7-9 there's a Blog Hop going on at ColorMeDaisy. If you post a layout featuring a transparency you can play along too!

So here's one of my favorite layouts using one of Heidi Swapp's transparencies, the clock:

I love working with transparencies, you can use them for everything: on layouts, cards, mini albums.... I tried it all!

Here's an example of a card I made using a transparency combined with October Afternoon pp:

First lo with Nook November kit

Let me show you the layout I made this week with the November kit from the Nook. I used some old photos of Patrick and me, made when we only knew each other a year or so (and before the digital era!). These photos are very dear to me: I longed to go to London for so long and I never had the time or opportunity (or money) to do so, but then I got this little birthday surprise trip from Patrick (actually I thought I was going to Belgium.....). I loved him so much for it!!!

My Nook kit has arrived!

Yeah!! My Nook kit has arrived.....and it´s so incredibly beautiful!! Full of the new Chatterbox stuff: lots of pp and some of that beautiful stitched felt. And the mixed minis from Tim Holtz!! I´m so very happy with it all! Can´t wait to use it!!

Finished!

Zoals gezegd heerlijk zitten te scrappen vanmiddag. Dit is het geworden:
I told you in my post from this morning that I was going to scrap.....and I did! This is it:

I just love the October kit from the Nook, luckily I have a few papers left! The layout is pretty simple, but I don't think it needs any more..... (in "real life" it looks much better though...)

A swap and a magazine!

This weekend I had two scrappy surprises: Patrick bought me a Swedish scrapbook magazine while he was in Stockholm. When browsing through the magazine, I was amazed at how much Swedish I understood, while having no knowledge of the Swedish language whatsoever! And the second surprise was that my swap-parcel finally arrived! I participated in a swap at the Nook way back in August, but sadly my 1st parcel never arrived. My swap partner Sarah (hippychick) was so nice to send me another one and luckily this one did arrive! I love these surprises!

And now I'm off to do some actual scrapbooking! See you all later!
