Scrapbook Generation CREATE Magazine | July 2015 issue

Because of my vacation(s) I haven't had the time to post about the brand new issue of Scrapbook Generation's Create Magazine! The July 2015 issue is now live. Scraptastic Club's 4rth Anniversary!

This month it's Scraptastic Club's 4rth birtday and last weekend was a weekend full of challenges! Although my days are super busy with Manon leaving next Saturday for the US for almost a year I managed to find a bit of time to join in the fun and do a layout for one of the challenges!

I chose Carol's challenge: "To celebrate we are going to go back to the year you were born and check out the top 100 songs of 2010. Find a song title that inspires you and use it as your title on a layout, sentiment on a card, or phrase on a TLN spread........you pick!"

On #69 I found a song titled "3" by Britney Spears, which was just perfect for my photo (although the song text wasn't, but who cares? lol). I used the Color Blind kit and add-on from November 2013:

December Daily - Pages 11 to 20

As promised, the next 10 pages of my December Daily! Hope to finish it soon, but as life has returned to normal, with the kids going to school again, hubby abroad (Norway this time) and I back at the office, I can't tell when the next 11 pages will be finished. BUT I reallly love working on it, so I'm definitely going to finish it!

Day 11: My youngest showing me the Xmas tree in his class room at school. Day 12: my daughter and her friends at their school's Xmas party.

Day 12: I put up a little Christmas tree at my office. Day 13: my Doodlebug Advent Calendar is a huge success! 

 Day 14: My youngest at the soccer field and the photo above his socs he wore to the game hung on the stove that same evening, lol! 

(In The Netherlands it's not even customary to hang your sock for Santa, as we celebrate "Sinterklaas" on the 5th of December and kids can then place their shoe before the fireplace.)

Day 15: Buying the tree and that same day decorating the tree at home! 

More Day 15 and having fun decorating! Day 16: According to the Advent Calendar Mats can choose tonight's dinner ... MacDonald's! Day 17: Ikea!

  Day 18: Mats and his best friend baking and decorating muffins for their school Christmas party! Afterwards it's time for a little bit of kid's firework. 

Day 19: Timothy all dressed up for his school's Christmas party: 

Day 20: my husband and daughter in Venice, Italy! (not jealous at all!)

December Daily - Day 1 to 10

Last October I decided I was going to try a December Daily again and so I bought Studio Calico's December Daily kit and signed up for the "25 Days" class. But as I just adore Christmas collections I just couldn't help myself and bought lots of other collections as well, like Pink Paislee's "Snow Village", Webster's "It's Christmas" and October Afternoon's "Eggnog". Then there were also the Christmas collections from the design teams I was on: Pretty Little Studio (Woodland Christmas), Doodlebug (Home for the Holidays) and Imaginisce (Colors of Christmas) ... and last but not least, I also bought Scraptastic Club's December Kit "Home for the Holidays" plus add-on. 

All in all I had (still have) soooooo much Christmas stuff lying around the house that even my kids started complaining about the mess that I made! Because when I work on a project, I want all of my stuff in sight and in this case that meant all of above was lying on/under/beside my desk, dining room table and dining room chairs! Don't know why they were complaining, lol!  

And now, I'm so happy to be able to tell you that I've got day 1 - 20 of my December Daily finished! Only 11 more days to go plus the cover, yay!! To avoid an overload of photos, I'm gonna show you Day 1 - 10. Would love to know what you think:

I also bought some of Ali Edward's brushes to add to my photos; LOVE them!!

As you can see I mixed lots of different Christmas collections, but overall I think I used Studio Calico's December Daily kit the most. Love this kit!

{My English Teacher}

This page is made for the new challenge over at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge. The challenge is:

"September is back to school in North America – scrap about a teacher or someone who inspired you, believed in you, helped you in some way.  If you have a photo of them, use it.  If not place a photo of you or something else that is representative of how they inspired you."

I chose to scrap about my English teacher from way back in college. She encouraged and inspired me to (learn to) love the English language, the country, the people ... She could be so enthusiastic, especially about the English language and the English books. She brought us, her students, brand new books from her own collection and encouraged us to read them and sometimes she even gave them to us.

I clearly remember the very first "normal" English book I got from her: "The Thorn Birds" from Colleen McCullough. 14 Years old, I remember thinking that it had way too many pages and that there was no way I would be able to read that. But I was wrong. Once I started I couldn't stop and that was the beginning......

My love for English books only grew and as soon as I wasn't obliged to read Dutch books anymore I stopped reading those altogether. My bookcase is now filled with hundreds of English books and I also have a Kindle filled with English written books. There're almost no Dutch books in our house anymore ... gave those all away to a library. Hundreds of them!

It's a shame I don't have a photo of that English teacher that I can use on my page. Instead I made a few photos of my bookcase:
