Doodlebug Christmas layout for SG CREATE Magazine issue #17

Today I thought I'd share one of my projects created for the November issue of SG CREATE Magazine #17. For the Christmas theme I created this layout using Doodlebug's Sugar Plums collection. I love the non-traditional colors of this collection.

In the photo you can see my daughter and her Dutch friends taking part in a Christmas parade with all the other foreign exchange students.

Scrapbook Generation CREATE Magazine November Issue!

Another Bella Blvd layout for SG CREATE Magazine!

For the school themed article in SG CREATE Magazine #16 I created another Bella Blvd layout and I thought I'd show it to you here as well.

How I love all the bright colors in this collection! Just perfect for my daughter's and her friend's photos!

These photos were taken last May, when my daughter attended High School in the US. Because she was a foreign exchange student she wasn’t allowed to join in the official graduation ceremony, although she had nothing but straight A’s for the entire year. Lucky for her she was allowed to buy the cap & gown to take home with her so she can wear them at the end of this school year, when she graduates here in The Netherlands (we don’t wear cap & gowns here, just our normal attire).

Halloween Layout for SG CREATE Magazine issue 16 | Bella Blvd

Another layout I did for the September issue of SG CREATE Magazine was this Halloween layout using Bella Blvd products. You'll find my project on page 154 of the magazine. 

One of the reasons my daughter wanted to go to the US for a year, was to “really” experience Halloween for once. In The Netherlands Halloween isn’t nearly as much fun as in the US! For one, we had never ever heard of the activity called “Trunk or Treat” which was held at my daughter’s school. What a wonderful celebration this was! The Halloween collections from Bella Blvd are among my very favorite collections and I’m so very happy to have been able to use one of them!

That's What She Said | American Crafts | SG CREATE Magazine issue 16

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing another project I created for issue #16 of SG CREATE Magazine. I made this layout for the Journaling challenge.

These were the directions we received: 

• Specific focus: use an interview as the journaling for your layout (can be serious, humorous, long, short...your decision)

• Use the complete journaling for the layout, or an added element to traditional journaling

So what I did is this, I drafted a little "interview" for my kids and used their answers for my layout. As my daughter finished her interview first I used hers first:

I really love this patterned paper from Amy Tangerine's "Cut and Paste" collection with all the text balloons. As soon as I saw it I knew it was what I was looking for. It’s perfect to include all the answers I asked my 18 year old daughter. The photos was taken during our vacation in Louisiana. We had just spent the day sight seeing and were exhausted, so to relax she's watching Netflix on her bed.

Crate Paper Altered Notebook | SG CREATE Magazine issue 16!

Hello friends! Tonight I realized I haven't shared any of the projects I created for the September issue of SG CREATE Magazine as yet! So I thought it's high time that I share the first one! Here's the notebook I dressed up for the altered card/tag sketch challenge, using Crate Paper's Poolside collection (you'll find it on page 129 of the magazine):

Manhattan | Paper House | SG CREATE Magazine

When I was sorting my layouts to put them in albums, I came across this one and realized I never shared it on my blog. So I thought today is a good day to do so.

Paper House was the sponsored manufacturer for SG CREATE Magazine issue 14 and I got this wonderful pack of New York papers and embellishments to work with. Like for example that sheet with the New York “street sign”, isn't it awesome?!

When we were in New York we had a hotel right on Times Square and so we spent a lot of time there. This sheet of paper was just perfect for a lot of my photos.

The stickers belonging to this New York collection are fantastic as well. All of the stickers would have been a perfect fit for my photos! And I really adore the “metallic” ones.

Hello NY - layout for SG CREATE Magazine July 2015 issue

Hi everyone!! For today I thought I'd share my first project for the July issue of CREATE Magazine. This layout was created for the product challenge using the awesome Shimelle collection, a TCW stencil and Heidi Swapp color shine and Studio Calico's Mister Huey's color mist:

The challenge was to use a stencil (or mask) in an innovative way on a traditional layout. For my layout I chose a stencil with a map of the subway and used four different colors to mist. The photos are from our vacation in New York in 2011.

SG CREATE Magazine #14 | PARTY | Jillibean Soup

Hi everyone!! For today I thought I'd share my second project for the May issue of CREATE Magazine. This layout was created for the "theme" challenge, which was to create either a birthday layout or a travel layout. I chose to create a birthday layout and this is what I did:

A few years ago, when my oldest son turned 11, the best gift he received for his birthday was a fake tongue! The entire day he tricked his grandparents, his friends, the neighbors … everyone, by sticking a needle through his (fake) tongue and let them think it was real. A memory we will never forget. This collection from Jillibean Soup was exactly what I was looking for when I wanted to scrap these photos. It’s so colorful and versatile and perfect for both boys and girls pages!

Currently 2 - Webster's Pages - SG CREATE Magazine #14

Hi my scrappy friends!! Today I'm sharing my first project for the May issue of CREATE Magazine. This layout was created for the "color" challenge. The assignment was to use the six color swatches you'll find below to create a single-page OR double-page layout and here's what I did:

This photo was taken last Easter when we went for a long walk. I love to see my two boys getting along so well together. The title “Currently 2” is about the fact that at that time my 3rd child, my daughter, was away for a year and we had only two kids at home. This Webster’s Pages collection is one of my favorites, the colors are amazing and the designs are so unique! I love everything about it!

A Maggie Holmes layout for CREATE Magazine

Good morning everyone! Today I thought I'd share the last layout I created for the March issue of CREATE magazine! This layout was done for the "Sketch Challenge".

I really loved the sketch and kept pretty close to it. I often struggle with sketches with more photos, so this one was just perfect. Instead of using one large tag I chose to use two smaller ones. This was inspired by the  Crate Paper collection I used: the Open Book collection from Maggie Holmes came with these fun stitched tags and I definitely wanted to use those.

I also replaced the row of tickets from the sketch with a few other embellishments I adored. That’s what I love about sketches, you can always adjust them to your liking.  

I really love the embellishments that belong to this collection!
