Pebbles Fall Banner using the Woodland Forest Collection

Hello friends! A few days ago my DIY project was on Pebbles' blog: a fun and easy banner to bring an Autumn feel to any room! As Autumn is my favorite season of the year I love creating projects like these to brighten up my home. For today’s project I chose the awesome Woodland Forest collection with the beautiful patterns and cute die-cuts.

To create the six pennants I chose six different patterned papers and three different colored sheets of cardstock. The 6 pennants each measure 7.5″ x 5.5″.

Before adhering the patterned papers to the cardstock pieces I embellished and machine stitched them first. I cut the word “Fall” from the Apple Cider sheet, using the mini alphabet punch board from We R Memory Keepers:

This was so much fun and so super easy to do! The punch board comes with an instruction booklet with instructions on how to create each letter of the alphabet, plus the & and the ! and the numbers 0 – 9.

Once the letters and the embellishments were in place I assembled all the pieces of the banner and used some orange colored twine to string them together. I really love the result!

Grab A Coffee with Pebbles' Warm & Cozy!

Good morning everyone! My latest project with the Warm & Cozy collection is on the Pebbles Inc. blog and I thought I'd share it here as well.

I adore this Fall collection and just can’t get enough of it! Fall is actually my favorite season of the year. When I think of Fall I think not only of “warm” and “cozy” but also of coffee! Lots of coffee! The corner in my kitchen where you can find my coffee machine, is one of the places where you’ll find me most! So, when I saw that “journaling” was going to be the main feature this week, I knew straight away what I was going to create: framed (wall) art for my coffee corner with lots of “text” in it! So here’s what I did:

And because maybe your kitchen or coffee corner could use some home decor as well, I’ll quickly explain what I did. I got an inexpensive photo frame from a local store (Xenos, for the Dutch readers of my blog) and chose a couple of sheets of patterned paper, two of which held “text” (I just love papers with text!).

I cut the papers in the right size so they would fit in the photo frame and layered them on top of each other. The last sheet I wanted in a different shape than the others and hand cut it in the shape of a heart:

I added a bit of machine stitching. Not too much, along the outer edges of two of the papers and the heart is enough:

Next I added some embellishments at the top of my project and in the bottom left corner. Isn’t that red coffee mug awesome?! Before I added the text I first adhered a vellum heart on top of the other heart to make it “pop” a bit more. I forgot to take a pic of this, but you get my drift:

For the text I used a mix of letter stickers, letters cut with the Silhouette and letters punched with my (old fashioned) QuicKutz Squeeze. I’m glad I kept the Squeeze even though I’ve got several more modern die-cutting machines by now! The QuicKutz alphabet I used is called “Stiletto”, the ampersand and the word “coffee” were cut with the Silhouette and the “A” is from the Warm & Cozy Rose Gold Foil Alpha Stickers set.

And here’s how my project looks in my coffee corner. My hubby promised he would hang it up on the wall, but for now it looks great here as well I think.

I love owls!

Hi everyone! Yesterday my owl shadow box was on Doodlebug's blog and I thought I'd share it here too.

Last month I created a Haunted House Shadow Box for Doodlebug and because I loved it so very much, I decided to do another one. 

Those of you who know me well, know I {heart} owls, so the decision what to create was easy:

I used the "Happy Harvest" collection which I love for its warm colors and awesome designs (the blue paper in the background with the owls is my favorite!). 

I used half of a styrofoam ball, painted it brown and covered it with punched 1 inch circles, which I adhered with lots of pins. I worked from the middle to the edge; so I started with the owl's eyes and tummy and then filled the rest of the body with brown circles. 

Last but not least I added some finishing touches like the moustache, the pupils in the eyes, the feet, and the wings and the little heart. 

I had so much fun creating the owl and the fun part is, there're so many other animals you can create with half a styrofoam ball and punched circles, like a cute prickly hedgehog or a green frog or a fat chicken ... ! The possibilities are endless! If you decided to try one too, I'd love to see them!

Haunted House Shadow Box - Doodlebug Design

This week was "Shadow Box" week over at Doodlebug Design. If you need Shadow Box inspiration that's the place to go!! My project went up on Tuesday!

I've never decorated a real shadow box before, not because I didn’t want to, but because I thought I couldn’t do it. I didn’t want to “ruin” the shadow box and so I never tried. But now I’m hooked! I just love how this 3D Haunted House turned out! 

To create this I used the Doodlebug Halloween collection “Halloween Parade” and a Silhouette cut file (by Marji Roy). Although we don’t celebrate Halloween here in The Netherlands I love to decorate our house just a little bit and this shadow box is just what it needed!

Doodlebug Washi Tape Home Decor

It's "Washi Tape Week" at Doodlebug Design and I came up with this fun tutorial to use your washi tape with colored straws!

This is the finished project:

And here's how I created it: 

1. Gather your supplies: wide photo frame (Xenos), lots of washi tape and straws and a pair of scissors: 

2. Roll your straws in washi tape of your choice. As washi tape is somewhat transparent the color of the straw will influence the color of the tape! 

3. Cut the straws and adhere to your frame with some tacky tape: 

And that's it! You can start embellishing!

Supplies: Doodlebug Lovebirds collection, lots of wahsi tape, doodle twine, straws. The title was cut with my Cameo and the banner is a die from Die-Namics (party banner).

American Crafts Home Decor

It's so easy to create beautiful home decor projects, using your Cameo and a fun photo frame. Here's one I did with the wonderful collection "5th and Frolic" from American Crafts:

Except for my Cameo I also used a Fiskars corner & border punch and a sewing machine.

The little birdie is one of the Dear Lizzy cut files from the Silhouette online store.

Pebbles Bird House

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share a cute wooden birdhouse with you, which I created with Pebbles' "Family Ties".  Actually it's not a complete birdhouse, it's just the front and I used it to create a nameplate for our home (as we've been living here for almost 17 years and still don't have one!). This collection with the cute chipboard birdie and flowers is just perfect for this project.

And here's how it looked before I started (the 3rd from the left):

I just love how it turned out!

Doodlebug Beatles Song Lyrics Project

Hi everyone! Today it's my turn on Doodlebug's blog to show you my Beatles (Love) Song Lyrics Project! I've chosen for their song "From Me, To You":

If there's anything that you want,

If there's anything i can do,

Just call on me and i'll send it along

I just love that song and knew straight away that this was the song I was going to use! 

Here's the project I made using Doodlebug's Lovebirds collection: 

On Doodlebug's blog I said that I would have a step-by-step to show you how I created this bouquet, so here it is!

1. Cut flowers using your Silhouette Cameo like I did, or another diecutting machine:

2. Carefully roll up the sites of the flower using a thin pencil:

3. Layer the different sized flowers making use of both the front and back side of the beautiful Lovebirds papers:

4. Choose different brads for the middle of your flower:

5. Use washi tape to cover the wooden stick pins you use for the stems:

6. Attach the flower to the sticks: 

7. and carefully arrange in a vase or watering can:

The string with the hearts is also cut with the Cameo. I used my sewing machine to create the little garland.

Supplies: Doodlebug Lovebirds: Patterned Paper, This& That Cardstock Stickers, Cupcake Doodle Twine, Mini Love Notes, Washi Tape, Mini Doodle-Pops (roses are red); Boutique Brads (love assortment); Braddies (cinnamon hearts and sugar coated hearts). Other: ribbon.
