Lucky | new Imaginisce Give Thanks collection

Today I'm sharing my very first project created with Imaginisce's new Give Thanks collection. It's also on their blog right now. I was over the moon when I saw this collection! It contains all of my favorite colors (exactly the colors of my living room!), patterns and critters (love owls!). I couldn't be happier!

For today's layout I chose this photo of my daughter with her youngest host sister. Most of you probably know that my daughter did an exchange year in the USA (from August 2014 until June 2015) where she stayed with this wonderful family. I chose this photo for two reasons: one because we are so thankful for the awesome host family who took our daughter in and treated her as one of their own kids and two also because the colors of the collection match the colors of the photo to a tee.
Here's what I did: 

A few close-ups of the fabulous die-cuts belonging to this collection and one of cardstock phrase stickers. These word/phrase stickers come in three different colors and one package contains 102 phrase stickers total! For the title I used one of the awesome American Crafts kraft Thickers. 

Using the I-Rock tool I added a bit of bling to the fun jars:

How I adore those puffy stickers!! 

I really loved playing with this collection. Can't wait to see what you'll do!

We Are Family | Scraptastic Club August Elastic Heart Kit

Hi everyone! Here's another layout created with the August Elastic Heart kit and add-on from Scraptastic Club. Love how versatile this kit is!!

It's not a layout I would normally do (mine are usually more colorful, lol), but that's what I love about working with kits ... they make you create outside your comfort zone. Love the result!

I love all the gold in this kit and isn't that Pink Paislee overlay fabulous?!

Altered Notebook - Pretty Little Studio

Yesterday was my turn on Pretty Little Studio's blog and I thought I'd create something else than a layout for a change and came up with this altered notebook. I can never resist buying more notebooks, even if I don't need them. I have them in all shapes and sizes and this one is from the Hema (one of my favorite stores in The Netherlands).

I chose the Silly Monkey collection for this project and here's what I did:

I started by choosing a “main” background sheet and decided the “Silly Abby ABC” sheet with all the letters would be perfect for a notebook. The 8×8” size of the paper actually works great for this kind of project! Next I chose a few other patterned papers that I liked and got layering. Next I had to decide what to use for the actual front, I mean the part you see best, the top so to say. I’ve always liked triangles and turned this idea over in my head and came up with this. I picked a sheet with wood structured flag cut-outs, but instead of cutting them apart I left the sheet in one piece and only cut off the sides, following the lines of the triangles. Now I had the fun “triangle” background I was looking for! Last but not least, I added a title, a monkey and a few star stickers. Loving the result!

A few designer tips:

• use a sheet of cut-outs as a “whole” instead of cutting everything apart
• when decorating a (note)book with a hard cover make sure to do the stitching before you start adhering everything to your book
• use lots of layers for a whimsical effect
• create a bookmarker by punching two circles out of your patterned paper scraps and glue these together with a regular paper clip in between and maybe add a flair button as well.

Sunny - Pretty Little Studio

Hi everyone, today I want to share my take on Pretty Little Studio's September sketch. 

I used a photo of the kids playing in the river taken during the last summer vacation in France. The weather was so hot, it was only nice when you were in the water so the die-cut “Sunny” had to be used!!

I decided to use the Treasure Island collection which is just perfect for almost all of our vacation photos! My favorite papers in this collection are the metallic ones so for my background paper I chose the sheet “Pirates Paper Metallic Copper”. How I love the result. The photo was layered on even more beautiful specialty “papers”: first a piece of lime colored vellum, next on a piece of clear sheet with a map and last a “normal” piece of paper featuring multi colored sailing boats. 

I also added a couple of cards (two journaling cards and a bingo card) and after adding a few die-cuts (clouds and arrows) and a flair my page was as good as complete! To finish it all off I used my sewing machine and added a few drops of ink.

Scraptastic Club August Sketch Challenge

Last Thursday it was time for the August sketch challenge at Scraptastic Club. Susan had created a wonderful sketch for us and here's what I made: 

In the photos you see the kids having fun in a hurricane simulator. The boys had to laugh so hard when they saw their sister's hair afterwards!!

I used a very old kit from Scraptastic Club: the "Carry On" kit from June 2013!! I really love this kit and am so happy I found it again! (I'm purging and am finding all kinds of scrappy stuff I didn't even know I possesed!!).
