Halloween - The Cut Shoppe

Hi friends! Today I'm back with a Halloween layout I created for The Cut Shoppe. I used some fun new Halloween cut files from The Cut Shoppe and the Trick or Treat collection from Pebbles to scrap this photo of my daughter and her spooky boyfriend:

Folded Paper Pumpkins - Pebbles

Hello friends! Last Tuesday I shared this "paper pumpkin" home decor project on Pebbles blog. Autumn is my favorite season of the year and I just love decorating my house for this season. Over the years I've collected quite a few bits and pieces, both for inside and outside the house, but every year I just need to create something new and for today's blog post I decided to make these paper pumpkins using the wonderful Woodland Forest collection.

I just love how they turned out with their perfect colors and pretty papers. Right now I'm using them to brighten up my living room, but with Thanksgiving I'm going to use them to decorate my diner table and that's why I decided to create matching "place cards" as well:

The mini kraft pocket tags were just perfect for this purpose. I selected the "thank you" phrase tags from the Homemade phrase tags package and inserted those in the pockets, but coming Thanksgiving I want to write a more personal message for everyone and put those in the pockets.

Let me show you quickly how I made the paper pumpkins. It's really very simple:

1. Gather the 6"x 6" paper pad from the Woodland Forest collection, a few "thank you" phrase tags and a 2.5" circles punch (or 1.5" for the pumpkin decoration on the pockets). 
2. Punch 6 circles.
3. Trim off a little strip from each circle.
4. Score the circles in the middle.
5. Fold the circles in half (and ink the edges if you like)

Next glue all sides together, place a little stick (or a thin strip of paper) in the centre and place one of the labels/tags over it. Add two punched leaves and the pumpkin is ready! 

To create this pumpkin to decorate a place card (pocket tag) is similar. Just use a smaller circle punch and don't glue all the sides of the pumpkin together, but glue the last one to the pocket. Add the initial of the person the pocket/card is for and you're ready!

How I love this season with it's beautiful colors and wonderful traditions!

Here Comes Santa Claus - Doodlebug

Hi everyone! Today, on Doodlebug's blog I'm sharing a "Here Comes Santa Claus" layout! Yes, I know it's early days, but as far as I'm concerned you can never be too early for Christmas!! Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I can't wait for it to be December again!

Here's what I created for today's blog post: 

I started this layout with the large background Christmas tree, which I cut from the "Holiday Hearts" paper and matted it with the "Cupcake Gingham-Linen Petite Prints" paper. Next I matted my two photos and arranged them on the tree. All the embellishments came next. My layout turned out a little busy as I'm never able to stop adding more and more die-cuts, stickers. sprinkles, etc. 

The Odds & Ends package is full of cute Santa's! Here's one of them: Santa in a plane .. isn't he fun?! And don't you adore the "Red Robin Mini Doodle-Pops" and that fun paper clip?! I sure do!

I decorated all the hearts in the tree with shiny Sprinkles from the "Holly Berries" Shape Sprinkles and the "Candy Cane" Shape Sprinkles. 

For another layout I needed only the top of one of the Santa stickers and so I had the legs left ... Don't you think it looks like he's hiding behind the tree?

I just love the shiny Candy Cane Shape Sprinkles in this collection so much! 

And one last close-up. I added some machine stitching for the finishing touch.

Happy Today - The Cut Shoppe & Jillibean Soup

I can't believe I forgot to share this layout I created for The Cut Shoppe here on my blog! I created this page for my TCS blog post last week with the awesome Strings Attached cut file and a little bit of the Funky Florals cut file and the Jillibean Soup Healthy Hello collection.

and these are the cut files I used: 

The photos were taken with my little yellow Instax mini camera and were lying on my desk waiting to be scrapped for the past 7 months. Tulips are my favorite flowers and so I thought this Strings Attached cut file was just perfect for these photos. The flowers and leaves from the Funky Florals cut file formed the perfect finishing touch. The papers, die-cuts and wood veneer are from Jillibean Soup's Healthy Hello collection.

This is the second layout I created with the Strings Attached cut file and both pages are totally different. This cut file is just so versatile! I love it and will use it again for sure. If you want to have a look at the other layout I created just hop over to my gallery.

Favorite Recipe - Pebbles

Good morning friends! Today I'm sharing a layout created for Pebbles' "recipe" feature, using the beautiful Harvest collection. When I was a little kid we used to spend many holidays in Germany with my German grandparents. My grandmother would have the “Kartoffelsalat” (potato salad) in the fridge, ready to be put on the table as soon as we arrived. After hours of driving we would be ravenous and granny’s salad would taste so good! This has become one of my favorite childhood memories. So apart from the fact that my grandmother’s potato salad tastes wonderful, it’s also this memory that makes it my favorite dish. When my grandmother passed away, my parents took over the preparing of the “Kartoffelsalat” for the holidays and for the last 5 years I’ve been doing it.

I thought it would be fun to scrap about this for today’s blog post! Here’s what I did:

When I was deciding which fabulous Pebbles Inc. collections I was going to use to scrap my photos, I noticed the fun kitchen utensils in the Harvest collection and my choice was made! I wanted to hand stitch my title and needed to determine where it was going to be so I started arranging my papers and photos without adhering them. I typed up the recipe in Word and printed it straight onto a strip of white cardstock, which I then placed at the top of my page. I also cut a few 12″ strips of paper of various widths and arranged these, together with the matted photo on my page. Next I chose one of the American Crafts embroidery stencils and placed this on my page where I wanted my title:

Carefully, so I wouldn’t move the photos and papers, I punched the holes in my sheet:

And when I was certain I punched the letters where I wanted them, I removed the photos and papers and hand stitched the word “recipe”:

Now I could start building my page “for real” and adhere photos, papers, stickers and other embellishments.

As I adore stitching on my layouts I decided to choose another design from the American Crafts embroidery stencils: the word bubble with the heart. I cut a piece of paper from one of the “Homemade” kraft bags, punched the word bubble with heart, stitched it with some orange embroidery thread and hand cut around it and added it to my page. I love the effect!

Except for the Harvest collection, I also used a few pieces from the new Woodland Forest collection, like the beautiful wood veneers. As I thought the wood veneers were a bit too “bare” I decided to give them a “gold dipped” look. I covered half of them in Versamark ink, sprinkled gold embossing powder over it, shook off the excess powder and used a heating tool to make it melt. See the butterfly in the photo above and the leave wood veneer in the photo below:

Last but not least I added some machine stitching as well, a couple of drops of color shine and some journaling and I was done! Hope you like it!
