Vertrokken! / And she's off!

De meeste van jullie weten het wel, Manon gaat een jaartje High School doen in Amerika. Twee weken geleden kregen we te horen dat ze naar Pineville, Louisiana zou gaan en na talloze afscheidsfeestjes is ze vanmorgen vroeg vertrokken!! 

As most of you already know, my daughter is going to High School during the next school term (August 2014- June 2015). Two weeks we were informed that she would be going to Pineville in Louisiana and this morning she actually left! At 5.30 am we arrived at the airport in Amsterdam to say goodbye:  

Het wordt een lange reis, eerst naar Londen waar alle STS studenten uit Europa verzamelen, dan met z'n allen naar Chicago en vanaf daar gaat ieder zijn eigen weg. Manon en nog een paar anderen overnachten in Chicago en gaan morgen door naar Dallas vanaf waar Manon alleen verder moet naar Alexandria. Twee dagen reizen dus! Wat lijkt Louisiana opeens ver weg!! (en wat lijkt een schooljaar opeens lang!!!). 

It will be a loooooong journey! Tomorrow evening (our night) she'll arrive at her destination! All of a sudden Louisiana seems such a long way away! Can't say I felt very good this morning (the opposite) but I'm so very proud of her! I know, at her age, I wouldn't have had the guts to do what she's doing :).

Silly Family - Pretty LIttle Studio

Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing another “Silly Monkey” layout on Pretty Little Studio's blog! This collection is made for my “silly” family! The photo I used isn’t the best one, as it’s taken with my phone, but I wanted to scrap it anyway as it’s so “genuine” and it reflects so perfectly how my family is. The photo was taken while having dinner, which is never a “dull” affair! My husband, my daughter and my 2 sons always behave silly … I think I’m the only “normal” one! Now you understand why this collection is so perfect for my family photos!

What I love most about this collection are the fun die-cuts, like the monkey with the balloons I used! He’s so cute!

The watercolored background was created by using my Gelatos and a drop of water.

Just us - Ruby Rock-It

Hello my friends! Yesterday it was my turn to share on Ruby Rock-It's blog "why" I scrap ... I think my layout says it all: I scrap because some photos and memories "touch" me and I want to hold on to that feeling, I scrap because I want to preserve certain memories for my kids for when they're older and last but definitely not least I scrap because I need the creative outlet, I just love to play with papers and everything that comes with it! And that's what this layout is all about: the memory, the photo that touches my heart, the creative part: 

Because I always love to combine different designs and collections I decided to do just that for this page. Therefore I needed a subdued background and chose a kraft one. For the circle background, the title and the funky circles I used my Silhouette Cameo and for the rest of the rest of the page I used many different punches.  

On the tag there's some hidden journaling with a personal message from me to my son and husband.

The words and expressions were cut from one of the sheets from the "Kinda Krafty" collection:

Scraptastic Club's 4rth Anniversary!

This month it's Scraptastic Club's 4rth birtday and last weekend was a weekend full of challenges! Although my days are super busy with Manon leaving next Saturday for the US for almost a year I managed to find a bit of time to join in the fun and do a layout for one of the challenges!

I chose Carol's challenge: "To celebrate we are going to go back to the year you were born and check out the top 100 songs of 2010. Find a song title that inspires you and use it as your title on a layout, sentiment on a card, or phrase on a TLN spread........you pick!"

On #69 I found a song titled "3" by Britney Spears, which was just perfect for my photo (although the song text wasn't, but who cares? lol). I used the Color Blind kit and add-on from November 2013:

Summer Day - Pretty Little Studio

Hi everyone! I'm popping in to share a Pretty Little Studio layout with you. I just had to use the fabulous “Marigold” collection again. It’s just so beautiful and it goes so well with my vacation photos from France! The soft colors are a perfect match for the photos I took during our walk up the hills one day. It was so hot, but so beautiful and totally worth it.

I just adore that “Poppy” patterned paper (!!) and don’t you just love those “Poppy Paper Ribbons” and the “Primrose Polaroid Tags”!

And how about that golden flair button … sigh!!!
